About Warthi (Bhandara Road) & Adjoining Region
Warthi town is included in Mohadi Taluka of Bhandara District of Maharashtra in India and it known as Bhandara Road, it is situated on 21°14’17”N latitude & 79°38’34” E longitude, north side of Bhandara city. There are 10 K.M. distance between Bhandara & Warthi, Bhandara city is a district place. Sunflag Iron Steel Company is a major industry at Warthi. Warthi is on Mumbai – Kolkata Railway rout so it is directly connected to all over India. According to census-2011, population of Warthi is 13058 & population of Mohadi taluka is150611.
Bhandara District occupies a place at the Eastern side by the Vainganga River of Maharashtra in India. Northern-Southern length is 103 k.m. and Eastern - West is 45 k.m. with total geographical area of 4427.59 sq. k.m. of the district. The District has been established in 1821. In May 1999 the district is split and a new District Gondia existed. Bhandara district is the eastern part of Deccan plateau and 7 talukas included in this district.
Bhandara District has 84 % plain and 16 % mountaineous area and 218 meter high from sea level and plain is higher than 300 meter. At the North side the Satpura ranges spread through West to East that includes Ambagarh (533 Mt.) Gaymukh and Chandpur Mountain at the East Koka and Gaykhuri mountain ranges and at Central Southern area the Bhimsen ranges and Southern Pawni ranges spread. In the district, 1806.17 sq. k. m. (41%) area covered by Wainganga basin, the average slope of basin is north to south and there be difference of 82 mt. in height between north and south.
Bhandara District is surrounded by archean rocks and there igneous and metamorphic rocks are found. The rivers flow from Lakhandur and Pawani and deposited these load, it known as ‘Square Belt’. Same stone is found in Tumsar, Bhandra and Sakoli areas. There sites, Nises, Marble, Dolomite, Ammibolite, etc. rocks are found. Besides this Manganese is found at Dongri (Buj.), Chikhala and at Sakoli Slate, Nises and Hematite, etc. rocks are found.
Satpura mountain range effects on the relief of this district, in this region most of the rain water stored in down area among the hills and in some of the area create reservoir of water with help of dams, so this district called a ‘district of lack’. With more than 3500 small lakes in and around the district, it is also referred to as the "District of Lakes". Bhandara has a mixed economy with agriculture, industries and forest resources. Bhandara is known for its large production of rice. Tumsar, a tahsil town, is a noted rice market. Bhandara town is also known as "Brass City" owing to the presence of a large brass products industry. Bhandara has several tourist destinations, like Ambagad Fort, Koka National Park, Gaimukh, Chinchgad, and Gose Dam.
In Bhandara district 100 years ago British started mines of Mangnese that still is on 21st rank in 254 project of Indian government and comes in 2nd rank after Holland in the world. Ordinance factory is still running at Javahar Nagar.
The area is under tropic to cancer latitude so here summer, winter is sometimes strong and simple. Summer is very hard and in May the temperature reaches 47.50c and November and February it seems comfortable and during rainy season in the month of June there is 80 % rainfall that average is 1242 mm.
In Bhandara district Red, Loamy & medium black soil is found that originates from igneous and metamorphic rocks, 31% area is covers by sandy soil, 47% covers by medium black soil, Loamy soil covers 22% of area; it seems in Pawani & Lakhandur talukas as square pattern, hence it is known as “Chauras Belt”. Bhandara district was known as “Gondwan” and “Zadipatti” because of forests around, but in last 100 years the ratio of forest came down.
Jawaharnagar colony is the only Kendriya Vidyalaya in the Bhandara district. There is one Navodaya Vidyalaya (brain child of Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi) in Navegoan Bandh. Ashok Leyland, a Hinduja Group Company, has a production facility at Gadegaon near Bhandara.
The current name of Bhandara is derived from the term "bhana", meaning "brass", as the namesake town is dominated by the brass-working industry. Bhandara district is mainly popular for its large production of rice, and is thus termed as the "Rice Bowl of Maharashtra". It is also called as "Bandra" by a famous personality from Bhandara, Vaibhao Chawale, who is one of the first personalities from Bhandara to go onsite - Milwaukee, USA.
According to census of India – 2011, Bhandara district has a population of 1,200,334, roughly equal to the US state of Rhode Island. This gives it a ranking of 397th in India (out of a total of 640). The district has a population density of 294 inhabitants per sq. k. m. & literacy rate is 83.76%. 98% people of the population speak Marathi. Bandhara has a mixed economy including agriculture, manufacturing and forest resources.
There are three Vidhan Sabha constituencies in this district: Tumsar, Bhandara and Sakoli. All of these are part of the Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha constituency.
